Hello members of the Houston Geological Society!

On behalf of the Earth and Atmospheric Science Department at the University of Houston, the Student Research Committee formally invites you to serve as a volunteer Industry Judge at our 2022 Student Research Conference.

This is our 35th annual Student Research Conference/Alumni & Industry Open House Event and it will be held virtually on Zoom from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Friday, April 29th, 2022 followed by a Happy Hour at McGonigel's Mucky Duck from 5:30 – 9:00 PM (https://www.uh.edu/nsm/earth-atmospheric/news-events/research-conference/). This event is a valuable opportunity to showcase our student research for a broader community, and it allows those working in industry and academia to see what our department has been working on in terms of research and development. Last year, our event featured over 50 oral presentations.

This year we have an oral presentation session (9 AM – Noon) and a poster presentation session (1 – 2:30 PM) with categories based on undergraduate and graduate classifications. Final materials for the presentations and posters will be made available roughly 3-5 days before the day of the event to allow you to begin your evaluations ahead of time. 

The best poster and oral presentations for Geology, Geophysics, and Atmospheric Science are chosen based on the recommendation of volunteer judges like you! We have options for commitments that range from only the morning presentation session (9-12 AM), the afternoon poster session (1-3 PM), or, if you’d like, you can volunteer for both. Details are still being finalized regarding the Awards Ceremony, and final specifics will be shared with you by April 15th, 2022.
