Event Title: Online event – Unconventional formations: Diagnosing Fracture Stimulation Designs with Fiber Optic Sensing
Start Date / Time: Apr 29, 2022 08:00 AM US/Central
Location: Online
Speaker: Rob Bohn
Fiber optic sensing in downhole applications is commonly used to diagnose fracture stimulation designs because of the technologies ability to measure strain, temperature, and acoustic activity at all points along the fiber cable. The technology has been popularized during it’s use on many public DOE-sponsored “science” projects over the last 5 years or so (HFTS #1, HFTS #2, HFTS #3, MSEEL, ACEFFL). The outputs of the technology are used extensivity in petroleum engineers and geoscientists workflows, and will continue to do so as fiber optic sensing improves and costs are reduced. The training will detail these workflows by starting with a high-level overview of the technology and then add-on by describing it’s application specific uses.
The training will review the following:
Technology Overview – How fiber optic sensing technology works (physics and installation/deployment options).
Application Review – Cross-well fracture interaction analysis using fiber strain (“frac-hits”) and fiber microseismic.
Application Review – Slurry allocation into individual clusters during fracture treatment.
Application Review – Production well logs using fiber sensing.
