The organization’s board includes 120 members from Houston’s business community and has been a force in the city’s history. Charles W. Duncan, Jr., was recently awarded the 2022 Robert C. McNair Civic Leadership Award. Here are some facts about the organization.

History

The annual luncheon of the Greater Houston Partnership honors the organization’s founder, a respected businessman and statesman. The program’s aim is to increase Houston’s economic development success and showcase its key accomplishments from the previous year. The presentation will include a keynote address by Philipp Carlsson-Szlezak, chief economist at BCG, and a panel discussion examining global trends that are affecting Houston.

The meeting also included a panel discussion on how the organization will be able to continue to grow the region’s economy in the 21st century. The new board is comprised of leaders from the greater Houston business community. Partnership President and CEO Bob Harvey discussed the strategic initiatives of the organization. He also discussed the Partnership’s strategic plan, Houston Next. Amy Chronis, the organization’s Vice Chair for 2022, will present the accomplishments of the organization in 2021.

The Partnership’s new initiative will focus on energy transition, and its existing committees will work to attract clean-energy and energy tech companies to the area. They will also explore policy dimensions of carbon capture and use, and advocate for legislation that positions Texas as a leading energy transition region. The Partnership is also preparing for the next wave of economic development by promoting economic growth in Houston. Ultimately, they hope to help the region attract new businesses, jobs, and capital.
