The Italian Cultural & Community Center of Houston, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Houston, the Swiss-American Society of Houston, and the Consulate General of Switzerland in Atlanta, cordially invite you to a screening of L’Ors on Thursday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m. in celebration of World Week of Italian Language (Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo). The film, screened in original Italian with English subtitles, will be followed by a small reception with refreshments.

Every year in October, people around the world celebrate the so-called Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo, paying homage to the Italian language and the cultural heritage of Italian-speaking countries. As Italian is one of the four national languages of Switzerland, the Consulate General of Switzerland in Atlanta is thrilled to contribute to the promotion of the Italian language by screening L’Ors. This year, the theme of Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo is “Italian and sustainability.”

Between reality and fiction, L’Ors retraces the history of bear M13 and its difficult coexistence with the community of Valposchiavo. Almost ten years have passed since bear M13 was killed in Val Poschiavo, in the Swiss canton of Grisons, dividing the local community. Five narrative threads inspired by the news of those days and partly re-enacted by the protagonists themselves are woven by together to retrace the events that led to the shooting of bear M13. L’Ors is a reflection on the delicate coexistence between man and bear, in an increasingly anthropized nature, in which the wild animal is destined to become a scapegoat, the driving force of upheaval and the unexpected.
