About the Event
We will meet on Thursday, September 14th, at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Houston Branch at 1801 Allen Parkway from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with the formal presentation from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. For security purposes, you must register by Wednesday, September 14th at noon. Bring a photo I.D. for entrance into the Federal Reserve Bank building.
About the Speaker
Dr. Adrian Duhalt is a Research Scholar at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University´s School of International and Public Affairs.
His professional and research interests sit at the junction between political economy and development issues concerning the energy sector in Mexico and North America. Specifically, his research projects have focused on natural gas and petrochemicals, however, he has similarly had the opportunity to publish articles and reports on topics such as the ammonia-fertilizer value chain, the liberalization of the energy sector in Mexico, social conflict in energy infrastructure projects, and NOCs.
Prior to joining Columbia, Adrian was postdoctoral fellow in energy studies for the Center of the United States and Mexico and the Center for Energy Studies at Rice University´s Baker Institute. From 2013 to 2017, he was associate professor at the School of Business and Economics at Mexico´s Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP). Adrian completed a master´s degree and PhD in Economic Geography at the University of Sussex, UK. He is also a Non-resident Scholar at the Center for the US and Mexico at Rice University´s Baker Institute.

The Houston Economics Club (THEC) is an association of economists, analysts, researchers, businessmen, businesswomen, entrepreneurs and academics who meet regularly to network, discuss recent business news and listen to prominent experts share their insights on current economic events. THEC is an affiliate chapter of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE).Every month of our program year—August to June— we invite a prominent speaker to share their insights on current economic events. We meet for a luncheon each month, typically at the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Meetings run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., starting with networking, followed by the speaker’s presentation and a brief Q&A.
