This up to nine-year-term business development program aims to grow and prepare socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses to be more competitive in the federal marketplace. 8(a) Program Eligibility requirements:

• Be a small business.
• Not have previously participated in the 8(a) BD Program.
• Be at least 51% owned and controlled by U.S. citizens who are socially (member of a racial/ethnic minority group, or due to cultural bias) and economically (personal net worth below $850K, adjusted gross income of $400K or less, and assets totaling $6.5 million or less) disadvantaged.
• Show potential for success: In business for at least two years and have the managerial, operational, financial & technical capacity to perform on contracts.
