Houston Scotch Whisky Society is please to present The Space City Scotch Whisky Tasting Event commemorating milestones in space exploration history.

This event will feature (3) exclusive single cask Scotch bottles that are not available for purchase in the US to our general admission & VIP ticket holders. These will include the following:

STRATHMILL DISTILLERY – Back Home Almost 14 Year Old 2006

Fifty-one years ago Apollo 10 pioneered a full dress rehearsal for the first historic moon landing. Lunar module, dubbed “Snoopy” stopped short of landing on the lunar surface. As ‘Snoopy’ docked with command module ‘Charlie Brown’, Pilot Eugene Cernan proclaimed “Man, we is back home. Almost.” To mark this occasion we have bottled a single sherry butt distilled in 2006 bottled October 2020. 685 numbered bottles.

AUCHROISK DISTILLERY – This Is Like Spectacular 10 Year Old

On March 3rd, 1969, Apollo 9 launched from the Kennedy Space Center. The first full flight of an Apollo spacecraft with both Lunar Module and Command and Service Module. To mark this occasion we have bottled a single first fill Pedro Ximenes sherry hogshead distilled in 2010 bottled April 2021. 306 numbered bottles.

CAOL ILA DISTILLERY The Eagle Has Landed 8 Year Old 2012

On July 20th 1969 Apollo 11 lunar lander call sign ‘Eagle’ undocked from command module Columbia and went into lunar orbit. The World held its breath and watched. Landing on the lunar surface, commander Neil Armstrong proclaimed “Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed”. ”To mark this occasion we have bottled a single sherry butt distilled in 2012 bottled October 2020. 699 numbered bottles.

Blair Athol 11 Years Old Brig O’Perth ‘Vino de Color’ Sherry Finish

This studiously chosen cask of Single Malt Scotch Whisky pays homage to a tradition of selecting the finest spirits and oak casks for maturation. ‘Vino de Color’ is one of the oldest Sherry Wines of Spain, and the cask used to finish this whisky was over 150 years old and is believed to be one of only a few remaining to have contained a highly concentrated, syrupy, dark, rich unfermented Pedro Ximenez grape juice and Dark Sherry mix. After rinsing the cask with water, the whisky was finished for three months. Only 475 bottles were produced and is now unavailable anywhere to purchase.

These bottles are not available anywhere in the USA, and are not available to purchase. VIP Tickets are limited to only 15 people as we were only able to secure (1) of these precious bottles.
