Many lawyers make career changes or want to.  In this CLE, attendees will hear from three who made major changes successfully.  Stacey Burke transitioned from personal injury and products liability plaintiffs law firm partner to legal marketing consultant.  Josh Bowlin transitioned from successful big firm defense lawyer to opening his own plaintiffs litigation partnership that has grown to almost ten lawyers in five years.  Heather McFarlane transitioned from big law to Harris County Special Commissioner to becoming a full-time mediator.  Included in the discussion will be conflicts checking, advertising rules, and mediation ethics.

The HBA adopted the following policy for judicial campaigning at HBA events:
There should be no active campaigning, no literature distributed, no buttons worn, essentially nothing to indicate that a judge is in a contested race, and certainly nothing urging a favorable vote. Judges and judicial candidates may serve on HBA committee(s) and appear in HBA programs.
