Managing Equities in a Rapidly Evolving Environment

Larry Cordisco
Co-Chief Investment Officer – Core Equity & Portfolio Manager
Osterweis Capital Management

Markets have struggled so far in 2022, weighed down by a combination of persistent inflation, Fed tightening, the war in Ukraine, and residual effects of the pandemic. Going forward, investors need to be prepared for continued volatility and more potential downside, as equities are trading near historically high valuations while the market grapples with continued economic uncertainty, rising interest rates, and fears about margin compression.

In this presentation, Larry Cordisco, Lead Portfolio Manger for Osterweis Fund and Osterweis Growth Income Fund, will set out a framework for evaluating key indicators related to measuring economic fundamentals and cover how active management can help advisors move beyond value/growth and secular/cyclical narratives. He will also discuss why it is critical in challenging markets to focus on high-quality businesses with underappreciated growth drivers that are resilient to a wide range of economic outcomes.
