2023 Good Brick Awards Program

August 22, 2023 @ 6:30 pm8:00 pm

Discover the stories behind Preservation Houston’s 2023 Good Brick Awards, recognizing exceptional historic preservation in the Houston area

Preservation Houston has presented Good Brick Awards since 1979 to recognize outstanding historic preservation projects — and we’re inviting you to join us online at Tuesday evening, August 22, to learn more about this year’s Good Brick winners.

The 2023 Good Brick Awards recognized a variety of projects from the rehabilitations of classic River Oaks homes to the renovation of an East End bungalow with a heartwarming family connection. Award recipients also included the inventive repurposing of two downtown-area landmarks: the former home of the Houston Post newspaper and the massive Barbara Jordan Post Office, which was reimagined as the POST mixed-use development. The award-winning projects represent the wide variety of preservation happening in Houston today and show how preservation tools like state and federal tax credits can be used to bring new life to significant buildings.

During our online program, hosted by PH’s David Bush and Jim Parsons, you’ll see dramatic before-and-after photos of the projects and hear the stories of the work that went into their transformations.
