Things to do in Houston and Houston Business Directory
**FREE EVENT**: The [Rice Space Institute](https://rsi.rice.edu/) will host a [Rice University Observatory Open House](https://www.ruf.rice.edu/~ruco/open_houses.html) on Thursday March 13, into the early hours of Friday March 14, 2025, to view the Lunar Eclipse.
The Rice Campus Observatory will be open from 11pm to 3am. The partial phase will begin just after midnight at 12:09 AM CDT, with totality occurring from 1:26 AM to 2:31 AM Friday morning. This eclipse is particularly notable as it closely resembles the one observed by Columbus in 1504.
Weather permitting, we will have the terrace open for viewing at least until the end of totality. While the spectrograph is currently on the telescope in the dome, we will be offering excellent views with our medium-sized telescopes.
Please note that due to the late hour, there will not be a public lecture.
For more information regarding the eclipse and a downloadable flyer, please check [https://space.rice.edu/eclipse/](https://space.rice.edu/eclipse/)

**Location:** Brockman Hall for Physics (NOT FOR OPERA), NO lecture this time. Meet on the observatory deck (4th floor). Elevator (and bathrooms) is in the east wing of the building.
