February 11 @ 6:30 pm8:00 pm
Free – $25

6:00 pm – Registration & Reception
6:30 pm – Program Begins

Join the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston for an insightful conversation with Sean Theriault, Distinguished Teaching Professor of Government at the University of Texas at Austin, on the evolving role of religious leadership in global affairs with a focus on the modern papacy and its impact on international politics, culture, and institutional reform.

In an era marked by rising geopolitical tensions, social polarization, and complex global challenges, modern popes have to constantly evolve so that their skill sets meet the moments on which they lead more than 1.4 billion Catholics worldwide. Drawing on his latest research, Professor Theriault will examine how the decisions that Francis and Leo make compare with those of their recent predecessors and what this means for the Catholic Church’s role on the world stage.

This program will appeal to members and guests interested in religion and international affairs, global leadership, institutional change, and the intersections of faith and world politics.
