Board Meetings are held every second month from 12pm to 1pm on the second Thursday at Southwest District Office, 6588 Corporate Drive, Ste. 168, Houston, TX 77036. Persons with disabilities who plan to attend the meeting and would like to request auxiliary aids or services are requested to contact the District’s Executive Director at 713.595.1200 at least three business days prior to the meeting so that the appropriate arrangements can be made.

Meeting dates are subject to change, so please call 832.638.2545. Meetings are open to the public, and public comments are taken at the beginning of each meeting. A sign-up sheet for public comments is available at each meeting.

Houston City Council created TIRZ #20 in 1999, which is the base year for ad valorem tax increments. The zone encompasses over 40% of the land area of the Southwest District (formerly known as the Greater Sharpstown District), plus portions of the International District and Westchase District west of Beltway 8.

Our Purpose

 

Address Mobility Deficiencies

1) address Mobility deficiencies along the Bellaire/Fondren commercial corridors with necessary capital improvements

 

Provide Resources

2) provide resources for the redevelopment of the Sharpstown Mall and Bellaire/Fondren commercial corridors to expand the tax base and increase output of sales tax revenues to the City General Fund

 

Reimburse Westchase

3) reimburse Westchase Section 3 Partners (Halliburton) for improvements made to their property to render it developable
