You won’t want to miss the February THEC luncheon as we hear from Jesse Thompson, Senior Business Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Jesse will give an overview of the Texas Economy. With our state facing new challenges and opportunities, now is the perfect time to hear Jesse’s insights.

About the Event

We will meet on Wednesday, February 21th, at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Houston Branch at 1801 Allen Parkway from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with the formal presentation from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. For security purposes, you must register by Tuesday, February 20th at noon. Bring a photo I.D. for entrance into the Federal Reserve Bank building.

About the Speaker

Jesse Thompson serves as senior business economist at the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Thompson, who joined the Bank in 2010, performs research and analysis on issues affecting the Houston and Gulf Coast economy. In particular, he studies issues surrounding area hydrocarbon industries. He also collects information for the Dallas Fed’s Beige Book summary of current economic conditions. He is author of the monthly Energy Indicators, the Houston Economic Indicators, and contributes to the quarterly publication Southwest Economy.

Thompson earned an MA in economics, with emphasis on empirical microeconomics, and BA in philosophy and economics from the University of Houston. Jesse also is the immediate Past President of THEC.

The Houston Economics Club (THEC) is an association of economists, analysts, researchers, businessmen, businesswomen, entrepreneurs and academics who meet regularly to network, discuss recent business news and listen to prominent experts share their insights on current economic events. THEC is an affiliate chapter of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE).Every month of our program year—August to June— we invite a prominent speaker to share their insights on current economic events. We meet for a luncheon each month, typically at the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Meetings run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., starting with networking, followed by the speaker’s presentation and a brief Q&A.
