ROCO performs “The Planets” and More at Miller Outdoor Theatre

September 27 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

**”[ROCO](https://roco.org/about-roco/)** takes audiences on a journey from Houston to space and back with stunning visuals and classical music.

“A world premiere by this season’s Composer-in-Residence, Vietnamese-American composer Viet Cuong draws inspiration from ROCO’s orchestra and the cosmos, with individual musicians representing stars within constellations that will be projected on the screen.

“Continuing the celestial theme, ROCO will perform a new arrangement of Gustav Holst’s masterpiece “[The Planets](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Planets)” with commissioned animation depicting the mythological characters for which the planets are named.

“Finally, Emmy award-winning composer John Wineglass’s “Cityscapes” will be performed in tandem with a video that showcases the Houston community.

**”[ROCO](https://roco.org/about-roco/)** is a dynamic and innovative professional music ensemble that flexes from 1 to 40 players from all over the US and Canada, with guest conductors from around the world. Performing intimate concerts in dozens of venues, ROCO’s musicians do not just give concerts — they challenge preconceptions, create extraordinary experiences and foster new relationships with audiences through the language of music.”

All are welcome to join.

**WHERE TO MEET**: We will meet at 6:30 p.m. by the picnic tables near the concession stand. Then go to the hill and set up. If you can’t make it at 6, we’ll hold some space. Look for our location in the comments. The concert starts a 7:30 p.m.

The hill is divided with the left side allowing chairs and the right reserved for blankets. **We sit on the chair side**, but close enough to the middle to accommodate blankets.

**WHAT TO BRING:**
Chair or blanket, drinks and snacks. **Blankets may have the view obstructed by chairs.** Adult beverages are allowed but the city prohibits glass containers in the park. (We don’t check.) It’s always more fun when people bring snacks to share.

**Parking:**
There are two main parking areas for Miller.
The Zoo lot has more spaces
Parking Lot F
