Macrame & Mindfulness

March 29, 2023 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Come on out to learn a new skill or share your talents with our community at Macrame and Mindfulness! All levels welcome.

Both for practical use and as an art form, macrame originated from 13th century Arabic weavers and sailors that tied intricate knots to pass the time on long voyages. The skill set become popular again in the Victorian age as people adorned their clothing with details and ornamentation. More modern-day interpretations conjure images of a boho plant holders or a wall hanging. Tying knots and weaving have long been a communal pastime of artisan guilds, where members share stories and build community. Maybe you have a favorite quilt made with love by a family member that tells a story. Maybe you want to develop a mindfulness discipline with a mind and hand connection by learning a new skill. I encourage you to give it a try. Thank you to veteran spouse peer leader, Jill Evans, who will teach the art of macrame. The supply list below is to show you basics knot techniques to make either the bookmark and/or key chain during this All skill levels welcome.
