You won’t want to miss the January THEC luncheon as we hear from Texas Demographic Center Associate Director Helen You. The Texas Demographic Center creates official state-level demographic projections and partners with the Census Bureau to disseminate Texas census data. Texas stands at the crossroads of many important demographic trends, so now is the perfect time to learn more about the current and future demographic position of the state and nation.
About the Event
We will meet on Wednesday, January 25th, at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Houston Branch at 1801 Allen Parkway. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with the formal presentation from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. For this meeting only, we will be in the auditorium-style San Jacinto Room.
For security purposes, you must register by Tuesday, January 24, 2022 at noon, and bring a photo I.D. for entrance into the Federal Reserve Bank building.
About the Speaker
Helen You is the Associate Director at the Texas Demographic Center. She is the lead scientist for the Population Estimates and Projections program. She has almost 20 years of demographic research experience with a general interest in demography and public policy in Texas. Her works cover a wide range of topics including welfare, education, migration, health and health care in Texas. Some of her projects include the Population Projections for Texas, Population Estimates for Texas, the Educational Attainment Projections of the Texas Labor Force, the Diabetes Projections and the Projections of the Uninsured in Texas.
The Houston Economics Club (THEC) is an association of economists, analysts, researchers, businessmen, businesswomen, entrepreneurs and academics who meet regularly to network, discuss recent business news and listen to prominent experts share their insights on current economic events. THEC is an affiliate chapter of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE).Every month of our program year—August to June— we invite a prominent speaker to share their insights on current economic events. We meet for a luncheon each month, typically at the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Meetings run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., starting with networking, followed by the speaker’s presentation and a brief Q&A.
