Leadership: It Starts with the Heart*

In traditional leadership training, we get hung up on the mechanics of motivation, learning, and engagement theory, when the real leveraging ideas are about caring, respect and trust. Without those as fundamental building blocks of coworker relationships, we don’t get permission to motivate, teach or engage them. This session gets back to the basics of leading from the heart.
ROD BRANCH is SVP, HR for ARCXIS, a builders’ services company. Rod has 40 years of professional experience, 25 in Human Resources – nine leading HR for multiple PE companies. He owns WholeHeartMind HR consulting and was CHRO of a 6000-employee refinery service company in Houston, Texas. Rod began his career as a petroleum engineer for 10 years including the Alaskan Arctic, then was a lobbyist for six years. Rod’s expertise is in organizational development and cultural integration. Rod has a B.Sc. degree in Engineering from Oklahoma State, a master’s in Global Human Resource Management from The University of Liverpool.
