If you’ve ever thought about starting a nonprofit, or have launched a small
nonprofit that is just getting under way, this is the workshop for you.
This session will walk you through the essential steps that will help you
build a solid foundation. Here is what you will learn:
* Background on the nonprofit sector
* Difference between for-profit and nonprofit organizations
* Current giving statistics and the changes in philanthropy
* Importance of creating your mission and vision
* Essential financial rules and regulations
* Types of fundraising options
* Nonprofit management support resources
There will be ample time for questions. All participants will receive a
resource guide that includes helpful checklists and informational
materials.
MEET THE PRESENTER
Ronnie Hagerty, Ph.D., CFRE
Ronnie Hagerty oversees the United Way of Greater Houston’s Nonprofit
Connection, a professional and leadership development practice serving area
nonprofit organizations, and United Way Project Blueprint, a program that
prepares members of Houston’s multicultural communities for nonprofit board
leadership. Ronnie earned her bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary’s
College/Notre Dame, master’s degree in business administration from the
University of Houston, and doctoral degree in leadership and change from
Antioch University. She is a lecturer at the Jones Graduate School of
Business at Rice University. She serves on the boards of The Rose and the
Association of Fundraising Professionals, and has been appointed by the
Governor of Texas to serve as board chair for the OneStar Foundation
National Service Commission.
