Aperitivo Italiano: Young Winemakers in Tuscany

Join us on a tasting tour of Tuscany (no passport required) as we explore four wines produced by the new generation of Tuscan winemakers. Some of them have family histories of winemaking that span hundreds of years, others are relative newcomers with a passion for viniculture—but all of them make fantastic wine. Stefano Milici and Thomas Geninatti of Vinello will guide us through the tasting, which will be accompanied by Italian-style light bites.

About the Presenters

Vinello is an import and distribution company based in Houston. The company imports fine and rare Italian wines. They work with over 20 producers across Italy, some of the producers are world renowned, others are not, yet the quality of wine is high across the portfolio.

Vinello was founded by Stefano and Thomas, two Italians who moved in Houston more than 10 years ago to fulfill their corporate careers.

Two years ago they started Vinello with the mission to bring wonderful, independent, artisanal, family-owned Italian wine producers to Texas.

“Each winery we represent speaks with distinct character by each bottle of wine they produce from their region. We believe what you do is just as important as how you do it. That being said, a large quantity of our producers are certified as organic or biodynamic (or both), not setting apart from some of our best producers who are not certified but have sustainable agricultural practices in motion. We strive to discover genuine, passionate Italian wineries from all regions of Italy. By creating organic, trusting relationships with our producers, we are able to deliver these works of art to you. We hope you can feel our enthusiasm through this page, we are so excited to share these wineries and their stories with you, your families, and your friends.”

What does aperitivo italiano really mean?

An aperitivo (or apéritif) is often described as being similar to the American happy hour, but in reality, it’s so much more than that. An aperitivo is a ritual, joyous and mood-lifting. It relaxes you after a day of work and prepares you for the night to come. The aperitivo has long been a staple in Italy, and in recent years, has been gaining more appreciation around the world.
